What we are reading

The Hodgeheg

by Dick King Smith

Max is a hedgehog who lives with his family

in a nice little home, but it's on the wrong

side of the road from the Park where there's

a beautiful lily pond and plenty of

juicy slugs, worms and snails!

The busy road is dangerous but Max is

determined to make his way across.

If humans can do it,

why can't hedgehogs?

Sampson's Titanic Journey

by L Graham and R Matthews

Samson had lived in the shipyard

since he was a baby.

He decided to leave his home

in search of a better life in America,

so he sneaked on board

the beautiful new luxury liner called Titanic.

How could he have guessed

the events that lay ahead?

Would Samson ever reach America

or would his journey end

in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean...?

Roald Dahl Day

Key Stage One had lots of fun today visiting Wonka’s Testing Lab. They used their Super Science skills to make observations and find answers to questions to help Willie Wonka make some new attractions for his Chocolate Factory. They….

Tested chocolate to see which was best to make a river.

Tested Gummy Bears to see if they could make them grow.

Used skittles to make rainbow water for a rainbow waterfall.

And tried to make floating boats from Starbust sweets.

What can your child remember about it? Why not ask them?

Making Cheesy

Bonfire Bread

Year 2 have been baking. They have made 'Cheesy Bonfire Bread,' and it was an

overwhelming success.

Lots of the children said they would

definitely make it again!

We had great fun

measuring, chopping and mixing.

Visit to Coventry

Transport Museum

Year 2 visited the Coventry Transport

museum as part of their History.

We were conducting research with the aim

to answer the question,

'How has transport changed over time?'

We saw lots of amazing forms of transport,

from bikes to fire engines and we took part

in a workshop all about Victorian Cycles -

we were amazed how anyone

could ride a Penny Farthing!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Transport Topic Work

Year 2 took part in an Outdoor Learning day

as part of their Transport topic work.

Each group were given some materials to

make their own car, then throughout the

afternoon, they were given additional items

to add to the car. These were given out in

the same order as they were introduced

to cars - mirrors, windows, lights etc.

They had such an amazing time

and the detail they included in their cars

were fantastic.

Mrs Henshaw took Cedar class out

for outdoor learning!

They used their team building skills

to create cars in groups based

on our transportation topic.

They all worked fantastically together

and showed great creativity.

This is one of their bucket lists ticked off!
