Pop Art
Year 5 have been learning to research and discuss various artists, architects and designers, including Pop Artists;
Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
The children used a range of media including, printing, collage, band aid dotting and block colouring to create pop art inspired pieces of their own. In future lessons they will refine and develop their skills to produce a final piece.
Roald Dahl Day
On Roald Dahl Day we were fortunate
enough to have local artist and educator,
Andy Brettell, come in and deliver
workshops in Key Stage 2.
Andy taught us how to use pen and ink,
in the style of the illustrator Quentin Blake.
We are delighted with the children's efforts
in recreating famous Roald Dahl
characters, and self portraits.

Gallery
Gallery
Whitnash Primary School are proud to have displayed our children's artwork in the gallery space at
East Lodge in Jephson Gardens throughout the month of January 2023.
This space was used to showcase some of our children's artwork linked to a whole-school project.
Throughout the month of December 2022 children created pieces for the gallery
with the theme of 'The Seasons'.
We were keen to display a range of work from Reception all the way to Year 6
from painting to mobile hangings, textiles and more.
We felt that this not only provided a whole-school opportunity,
but also showed the progression of art skills throughout the school.

Competition
Competition
We were also keen to create interest in this gallery work by involving children in a school competition.
We encouraged children to develop their skills in photography and capture
an amazing Autumn or Winter artistic nature shot.
We had all sorts of amazing photographs sent into school ranging from shots captured
on a woodland walk, close-ups of frosty flowers to sunsets.
The best photograph received a small prize and all children who entered were awarded with a certificate.
The photos captured by the winners, and others, were displayed in the gallery in January.
