What we are learning
What we are reading
My Name is River
by Emma Rea
My Name is River is an exciting story
with an ecological theme,
starting in the Welsh countryside
but taking us to Brazil and the Amazon.
It starts with Dylan overhearing that their
farm has been sold to a
global pharmaceutical company.
He is devastated when he learns that he
may have to move away from the family
farm that he loves so much.
He can’t imagine a life anywhere else.
His only hope is to speak to
the CEO of the company that’s buying
the land and try and stop the sale,
even though that means flying to Brazil.
So when half-term arrives,
and while Dylan’s parents think he is
on a school residential geography trip,
he is in fact on a plane to Brazil,
with his friend Felix,
whose dad works for the
company and lives in South America.
But things don’t go quite to plan
and the boys discover Felix’s dad
and his younger brother Joe
have gone missing.
With courage, conviction and the help of
an equally brave and principled street kid,
Dylan learns that you can
save what matters,
and that the world is both
bigger and smaller than he’d realised.

SATs Revision
We know SATs aren't everything.
We know you need lots of time over the
holidays to rest and relax so you are ready for
an action-packed Summer term.
However, we also know there are some
students who want to do a little revision
over the holidays
to get themselves as ready as possible
for next term's SATs tests.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE, there are some activities
here to keep you going over the break.
DO NOT DO THEM ALL IN ONE DAY.
Just follow the instructions - if it says
10 minutes a day, that's all you need.
If it doesn't tell you, do as much
as you feel is necessary.
Remember, you need some 'you' time too.
You don't need to do every subject
every day
and you only need to do the level
that is right for you.
If you do too much, you won't be fresh
for next term, so treat yourself with kindness.
There are also answers included
so you can check your work.
None of the links will disappear after the
Easter holidays, so you can always come
back to them in later weeks.
Good Luck!
