Homework ensures that the partnership between home and school supports children's learning. It is our aim that home and school will be equal partners in this.
Homework reinforces the class work
covered during the school week.
Homework encourages children to feel confident and supported in their learning.
Children will receive regular feedback from
their class teacher for their homework,
this may be in the form of a class discussion, a 1:1 conversation or a written comment.

How you can help

Please can you ensure:
​
- Your child completes and returns their homework to school on time.
- ​You sit with your child whilst they complete their homework, please can you encourage them to present their work neatly and to the best of their ability.
- ​You sign the homeowner log at the front of your child's homework journal to show your child's teacher that you have seen the completed homework.
- ​Read with your child at least 5 times a week.
- Talk to them about what they are reading and discuss with them their thoughtsabout the book, what they think might happen next, how the story will end.Please ensure that a comment is recorded in your child's reading record.

It will be given out on selected days and then it needs to be returned when requested. We will send out a homework menu for your child to select from.

to be tested the following Tuesday.

- Support your child with practising their reading e.g. reading books and ditties which match their current phonic level.

These revise what your child has been taught in their phonics group for that week.
- Practise correct letter formation using the rhymes taught at school e.g. when writing their name.
