Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader
Since April 2015, we have been developing our use of the ‘Accelerated Reader’ computerised reading scheme, in Years 2-6.
The scheme has been designed to engage children in reading through quality books,
online quizzes and immediate feedback on performance.
To access Accelerated Reader, click on button below.
How it works:
At the start of each half term,
children complete a test which gives them a ‘book band’.
Children can choose from a range of books within their band to fit their interest age
and reading level.
They also receive reading targets.
Having finished a book, individuals complete a comprehension quiz based on the story
or information they have read.
Quizzes are either 5 or 10 questions long.
As soon as the quiz is complete,
the system provides immediate feedback
on quiz scores and progress
towards their target.
