Mental Health at Whitnash Primary School

Developing and improving Mental Health is integral to everything we do at Whitnash Primary School.

We do this through many different approaches:

  • Thrive – Please follow the link on our PSHE page to find more about this approach that supports the emotional development of all children in our school.
  • Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) – Our SCARF PSHE scheme actively promotes the development of good mental health through our lessons and assemblies.
  • Mental First Aid – We have a trained Mental First Aider to support both children and staff when needed.
  • RISE - (e.g. MHST, Neurodevelopment team, PMHT).  We work with these teams to make referrals were appropriate. We receive additional professional, tailored support for individual children who meet the required threshold.
  • Counselling Service – A number of our children receive counselling through the Snowford Grange Service. We consider this to be a very important investment in for the well-being of our children.
  • Bereavement Services (Guy’s Gift) - We have a member of staff working closely with Guy’s Gift and have one-to-one sessions running in school.
  • Dog Mentor - We are very grateful to have the lovely ‘Blue’ as our Dog mentor.

If you have concerns around the mental health of your child, please speak to your child’s class teacher, Miss Brown or Mrs. Ellison. We are always happy to listen and support you.
