Safe + Active Travel

Safe + Active Travel

Here at Whitnash Primary School, we know that making safe and active travelling choices can have a positive impact on everyone’s physical and mental well-being. That’s why we are now in our third year of actively promoting Safe and Active Travel in collaboration with Warwickshire County Council.

We are currently proud owners of both the Bronze and Silver Awards for Safe and Active Travel, which has involved lots of hard work and commitment from our staff team. We have taken part in lots of activities involving all year groups to promote road safety and healthy travel choices, encouraging everyone to leave the car at home and choose to walk or wheel their way to school!

This year we are working towards achieving Gold – please support us where you can!

Here are some of the activites that won us our Silver award.

Holly and Ivy Talk Road Safety

The reception children really enjoyed their road safety session this week! We met Warwick Bear who taught us the 5 things we need to remember before crossing the road - stop, listen, look, hold hands & walk.

We listened to a story about Warwick Bear & every child got to take home their own copy as well as a lovely big sticker!  We finished the session by singing a song reminding us of the 5 things we need to remember when crossing the road.

The lady who ran the session also commented on how wonderful our reception children were!  Thank you Miss Brown for organising this visit.

'Be Bright, Be Seen'

Hoodie Competition

In Road Safety Week, we ran a competition in KS2 to design a

 'Be Bright, Be Seen' Hoodie.

The designs were fantastic and these children were the winners in their classes!  Some very bright designs as you can see!

Well done everyone.
